| Head Start services in Genesee County are expected to expand, thanks to a $3.9-million federal grant.
U.S. Rep. Dale E. Kildee, D-Flint, on Thursday announced the grant made to Genesee County Community Action Resource Department from the Office of Children and Families, a division of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
GCCARD serves more than 2,000 children in the Head Start and Early Head Start programs. The grant will help GCCARD to expand its Head Start Program into underserved areas, according to a press release.
"This grant is a tremendous investment in our children's future because it provides them with a healthy and safe environment conducive to learning," Kildee said in the release.
