| The National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare gave U.S. Rep. Dale E. Kildee, D-Flint, its highest rating.
Kildee received 100 percent on the scorecard that analyzed 13 key congressional votes in 2001-02 on Social Security and Medicare including lockbox legislation and income tax cuts. He called the distinction a "tremendous honor."
Other local lawmakers and their ratings are U.S. Rep. Jim Barcia, D-Bay City, 92 percent; and U.S. Reps. Dave Camp, R-Midland, and Mike Rogers, R-Brighton, both 31 percent.
The National Committee to Preserve Social Security, founded in 1982, opposes the privatization of Social Security and supports the expansion of Medicare to cover preventive services and create a government-paid prescription drug program.
