Local businesses will continue to receive marketing and technical assistance in landing government contracts through a grant from the U.S. Defense Department. The Flint-Genesee Economic Growth Alliance, received the grant for almost $100,000. With a local match, it grows to $137,000.
The money funds a technical assistance center, the only one in the 9th Congressional District. It is designed to create jobs and improve the local economy by helping businesses land federal, state and local government contracts.
U.S. Rep. Dale E. Kildee, D-Flint, praised the program for its ability to help the local economy when he announced the grant earlier this month.
