From ©The Flint Journal   Area: GISD receives  $1.94-million grant   Monday, September 23, 2002   The Genesee County Intermediate School District will fund a Safe Schools/Healthy Students Initiative with a $1.94-million grant.        The U.S. Department of Education in conjunction with the Justice and Health and Human Services departments awarded the grants to help foster a safe and drug-free learning environment.  "This funding will help eliminate the school violence and drug abuse that continues to plague our school systems across the country," said U.S. Rep. Dale E. Kildee, D-Flint, who wrote the secretary of education on behalf of the GISD to secure the funding.  -- Marjory Raymer
