The Genesee County Drain Commission will receive $800,000 to help construct 42 miles of sanitary sewer pipe and two pump stations.
The project, called the North-East Relief Sewer/Kearsley Creek Interceptor project, already has received $2 million in the past three years from the federal government through the efforts of U.S. Rep. Dale E. Kildee, D-Flint.
The latest funding is in the Energy and Water Appropriations Bill for next year, which passed the House earlier this week. It is expected to pass the Senate and be signed into law by President Bush. |
