FLINT (WJRT) --A local lawmaker is warning today that Michigan could be in danger of losing two congressional seats if not everyone is counted in the 2010 census.

The warning came during opening day ceremonies at the new census office in Flint.

The importance that everyone be counted in the census has been talked about for weeks. If someone goes missing, Mid-Michigan could face some significant losses.

But just how serious those losses could be was emphasized by flags that were raised at the census office.

"If we don't count everyone, we're going to lose two members of Congress," said Congressman Dale Kildee.

Kildee has watched Mid-Michigan lose its population count over the past four census counts. He says the loss of any representation affects residents directly.

Look for the 10-question census form in the mail in March. Fill it out starting April 1 and get them back as soon as possible.

After that you're urged to help census workers find everyone who still needs to be counted by May.
