FLINT, Michigan — Nearly $1.5 million in federal funding has been earmarked for Flint projects in an omnibus appropriations bill expected to be approved today by Congress.
U.S. Rep. Dale Kildee announced Hurley Medical Center, the YWCA of Greater Flint and I-475 would benefit from the funds.
Hurley would receive $500,000 for renovation and expansion of the emergency department and trauma center.
YWCA would receive $850,000 for its "Partners in Transition" program for at-risk young women. The funds will be used to help women become independent adults as they leave the foster care system.
The city's Safe Highway Program would receive $100,000 to purchase and operate permanent programmable electronic roadway signs to advise drivers of conditions on I-475.
These projects are in addition to the $1.1 million Kildee announced this week for the Kettering Gateway project. |
