| U.S. Rep. Dale E. Kildee, D-Flint, will continue as the highest-ranking Democrat of the House subcommittee that makes decisions on programs such as Head Start, special education and reforms.
Kildee was designated Wednesday as the leading Democrat on the education reform subcommittee, which previously was known as the early childhood, youth and families subcommittee. He held the same post last session.
The subcommittee considers legislation concerning elementary, secondary and vocational education.
Any education proposals, such as additional testing and vouchers advocated by President Bush, will be heard first in the subcommittee.
Kildee is second-ranking Democrat on the employer-employee relations subcommittee, which deals with unions and health benefits.
