Andrews Announces New VA Clinic in Camden

Earlier this week, Congressman Andrews joined state and local officials for a dedication ceremony to announce a new medical clinic for military veterans in Camden County. The clinic is intended to provide more options for care among South Jersey military veterans. Rather than travel to the West Philadelphia VA clinic, which services over 350,000 patients, South Jersey veterans can seek assistance closer to home by turning to the new facility in Camden or the recently expanded clinic in Gloucester County.

The Camden VA clinic is expected to provide a wide variety of services, including primary care, annual physical exams, preventative health services, immunizations, routine lab work and the drawing of special lab specimens for testing at the VA, EKG's, patient education, nursing care, and mental health diagnostic and treatment services. Also, Camden’s new 5,000 square foot VA campus is expected to improve patient care by lessening the burden at other local VA clinics and providing more resources and rooms for inpatient care. Located around the corner from Camden’s Walter Rand Transportation Center, this new facility is easily accessible for local veterans as well as medical personnel from throughout the region. Thus, the Camden location will free up beds and resources at the Philadelphia VA Medical center, which currently services more than 350,000 area veterans.

As a member of the House Armed Service Committee, Congressman Andrews continues to support projects like Camden's VA expansion as an effort to ensure that those who served our country receive the best care and resources available. At a time when more and more patients require assistance, as soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan join the group of veterans in need, Rep. Andrews remains dedicated to those who fought to protect our freedom.
