Supports authorization of an alternatives analysis for additional high-capacity transit service on the westside of the Portland metro area. The project would consider corridor alternatives for high-capacity transit connections between westside town centers and regional centers that are not currently served by high-capacity transit, with the goal of linking those population centers to the existing metropolitan transportation system. High-capacity transit promotes walkable communities and more compact growth within the urban growth boundary. It allows the region to reduce additional investments in highways and provides local living-wage jobs during the construction phase. In addition, station areas become preferred locations for commercial and retail development.
