Washington, D.C. - U.S. Rep. Rick Larsen (WA-02) announced today that he has again been named to serve on the House Armed Services Committee. He will maintain his seat on the Terrorism, Unconventional Threats and Capabilities Subcommittee. In addition, he will serve on the Strategic Forces Subcommittee.
“Since coming to Congress, I have fought hard in the Armed Services Committee and in Congress for the women and men in the military, especially those stationed in the Pacific Northwest,” Larsen said.
“Staying on the committee will allow me to continue representing the best-trained, best-equipped military in the world,” he elaborated.
He continued, “My new role on the Strategic Forces Subcommittee will expand my efforts to oversee our nation’s intelligence programs and to debate how we secure nuclear material around the globe.
The subcommittee also oversees the nation’s missile defense programs and will debate the future of spaced-based weapons.
Larsen represents Washington state’s 2nd Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. The district includes Naval Station Everett and Naval Air Station Whidbey Island. He has served on the Armed Services Committee since coming to Congress in 2001. |
