Rogers Lands Key Agriculture
Subcommittee Assignments
Livestock & Horticulture, Specialty Crops, R&D Subcommittee
Assignments to Benefit Rural East Alabama

Third District Congressman Mike Rogers accepted key Agriculture subcommittee assignments today, helping to nurture East Alabama farmers and grow one of the state’s largest economic sectors.

Rogers will help oversee livestock and poultry, as well as their inspection, marketing and promotion on the Livestock and Horticulture subcommittee. Key to the subcommittee’s work is guaranteeing the flow of aid to farmers and ensuring money appropriated to aid farmers is used only for agriculture interests.
“These subcommittee assignments will help greatly Alabama’s agriculture interests in Washington,” Rogers said. “I will work to secure rural interests like disaster relief, and fight for the family farmers so they are not threatened by unfair trade practices or unnecessary taxes and regulations.”
Rogers also accepted seats on the Conservation, Credit, Rural Development and Research subcommittee, which oversees soil, water and resource conservation, rural development and agricultural research, and the Specialty Crops and Foreign Agriculture Programs subcommittee, which has jurisdiction over peanuts, tobacco and foreign agricultural assistance and trade promotion programs.
