| Washington, DC -
Alexander City’s Thomas Russell Field has received a $450,000 grant award for the improvement of the airport’s runway, Congressman Mike Rogers said today.
“Safe and reliable air service is essential to Alex City’s economic well-being,” Rogers said. “With the help of Senators Shelby and Sessions, I am pleased to see these investments are being made in the Third District’s air facilities.”
The runway and taxiway of the Alexander City airport will be rehabilitated with the help of these funds. The grant award, administered by the U.S. Department of Transportation, provides funds to rehabilitate airport pavements to prolong their useful life and promote safety.
Alexander City's Russell Field is a general aviation airport located off U.S. Highway 280. The airport is solely owned and maintained by the City of Alexander City.
