Opelika High Student Wins Third District Congressional Art Contest
Winner to Have Art Hung in Washington, DC
 

WASHINGTON, D.C.  -  Artistic high school students from the Third District were honored this weekend in Sylacauga, as Congressman Mike Rogers announced the winners of the 28th annual Congressional Art Competition.

Tevin Drake, a junior at Opelika High School, took First Place for his colored pencil creation titled “Self Portrait.” This is Drake’s third consecutive year winning the art contest.  Drake came in first place this year out of 40 contestants.

Drake’s “Self Portrait” will be displayed for one year in the walkway leading to the U.S. Capitol.

All artwork submitted for the contest was on view at the Comer Museum in Sylacauga.
