Washington, D.C. - The Industrial Development Authority of Chambers County should receive $200,000 to help upgrade and expand an industrial park in Chambers County, Congressman Rogers said today.
Rogers said funding, which is contained in an appropriations bill passed by Congress today, was among his top priorities for Chambers County this year. He said he hoped the funding would support the efforts of local officials to attract new businesses to the county and create more good paying jobs.
“Attracting new businesses is critical for the long-term growth of rural areas like Chambers County,” Rogers said. “I am thrilled to have secured these funds, and hope they provide some much-needed Federal support for this local economic development initiative.”
Rogers said funding for the grant was contained in the conference report to H.R. 3058, the Transportation, Treasury, Housing and Urban Development and Judiciary, the District of Columbia, and Independent Agencies Appropriations Act of 2006. The bill passed 392-31.
Rogers said the bill provides funding for a wide range of programs, from economic development to transportation initiatives.
“These investments are great news for Chambers County,” Rogers said. “I would like to thank State Representatives DuWayne Bridges and Richard Laird for their assistance with this project, as well as thank Senators Shelby and Sessions for their ongoing support of these initiatives in the Senate.”
Rogers explained the bill must still be passed by the Senate before being sent to the White House for approval. He also said the funding levels announced today could change slightly depending on separate deficit reduction legislation under consideration in Congress.
