Washington, D.C. - Congressman Mike Rogers announced today the Sylacauga Alliance for Family Enhancement (SAFE) in partnership with with Designers of Talladega County Outcomes and Measurements (DOTCOM), a coalition of healthcare and social services providers in Talladega County, has been awarded a $150,000 grant to support the group’s Parish Nurse Disease Management Program.
Rogers said the grant, which is administered by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), should ultimately help improve the quality of life for local individuals who suffer from chronic diseases.
“Organizations like SAFE help improve the lives of so many East Alabama citizens,” Rogers said. “This is great news for Talladega County citizens, and I am pleased the federal government has awarded this grant.”
Rogers said in September 2004 he wrote federal health officials to express his strong support for the grant application.
‘The targeted population for this grant is the underserved populations in Talladega County….the quality and years of life for individuals who suffer from chronic disease may be increased,’ Rogers stated in the letter.
“All East Alabama citizens should have access to quality medical care,” he added. “I hope this grant helps even more folks have access to the health services they need.” - ### -
