Rogers Announces New School Pressurization Schedule
Corps: School Construction Completed by October 2003,
One Year Earlier than Original Estimates

Washington, DC -
Third District Congressman Mike Rogers announced today an accelerated construction schedule to overpressurize Calhoun County schools, after several productive meetings in which the Army, FEMA and Corps of Engineers committed to his proposal for a shorter construction period.

The freshman Congressman announced the new schedule today after weeks of discussions with Army and Corps officials. The new schedule includes construction at all schools within the 12-mile ‘pink zone’ and represents a significant development in addressing long-standing public health safety concerns with area schools.
“A new schedule has been developed moving all projects up by at least one year,” wrote Corps of Engineer Colonel Robert B. Keyser of the Mobile District.
The new schedule means school construction will be completed by October 2003. Army officials have assured Rogers this construction schedule is of high priority and will be completed on time.
“I am delighted the Army listened to our concerns and agreed to this schedule,” Rogers said. “We still have much work to do but I believe we’re on the right track to safely and thoroughly protecting the Calhoun community.”
