Subcommittee Assignments
Bases, State Weapons Programs to Benefit

Washington, DC -
Third District Congressman Mike Rogers accepted key House Armed Services subcommittee assignments today, further bolstering the freshman’s efforts to strengthen East Alabama’s military installations.

Rogers earned a seat on the influential Readiness subcommittee which oversees training, logistics and military construction, as well as the controversial base closure/BRAC process.

“I’m working to make sure the Depot, Maxwell-Gunter and Benning are fully funded and primed to grow,” Rogers said. “Getting appointed to these subcommittees will help tremendously in that effort.”
Rogers also joins fellow Alabamian and subcommittee chairman Terry Everett in oversight of space and ballistic missile defense programs on the Strategic Forces subcommittee.
Anniston Army Depot Chief of Staff Ray Minter was enthusiastic about both assignments, calling them important to both the Depot and state.
“This is outstanding news for ANAD,” he said. “There are many statewide benefits to these appointments but the biggest asset to the district in my mind is being on the front lines for the battle against BRAC,” he added.
