Washington, DC - Congressman Mike Rogers congratulated the Alexander City Fire Department today for receiving $138,960, as well as the Camp Hill Volunteer Fire Department for receiving $121,500 from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, money Rogers said would help the Tallapoosa County fire departments purchase a new fire truck and new safety equipment.
“The men and women of the Alexander City Fire Department and the Camp Hill Fire Department help form the area’s first line of defense,” Rogers said. “This grant will provide direct support for their work, and ultimately help make Tallapoosa County an even safer place to live.”
Rogers said the Alexander City Fire Department would receive $138,960 for fire operations and safety initiatives, and the Camp Hill Volunteer Fire Department would receive $121,500 to help purchase a new fire truck.
“I would also like to thank State Senator Ted Little, as well as State Representative Betty Carol Graham for their assistance with this project,” Rogers added.
The Firefighting Vehicles Acquisition Program awards funds to purchase pumpers, brush trucks, tankers, rescue, ambulances, quints, aerials, foam units, or fireboats. The Fire Operations and Firefighter Safety Program provides funds for training, wellness and fitness, firefighting equipment, personal protective equipment, and modifications to fire stations and facilities. Both programs are administered by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Rogers said.
