Washington, DC - Congressman Mike Rogers praised Defense Secretary Rumsfeld today for his recent proposal to increase the number of troops by 30,000, saying the move is a good first step in the larger discussion of providing relief for National Guard and Reserve soldiers currently serving overseas.
“Secretary Rumsfeld’s proposal to increase the number of troops is a good first step in providing relief for many members of our armed forces. If done properly, such an increase could help our troops maintain their superior level of readiness, while providing much-needed relief for current and future Alabamians called to active duty in the National Guard and Reserves.
“As the Pentagon makes plans for the largest troop rotation since World War II, I will work with the Armed Services Committee to help make this proposal a reality.”
