Rogers Secures $50,000 for
Tuskegee Aviation Curriculum
Earmark Accompanies Planning for Tuskegee Airmen Memorial

Washington, DC  -  Congressman Mike Rogers announced today that Tuskegee University will receive $50,000 to help develop the aviation science program and the corresponding curriculum for the planned Tuskegee Airmen National Memorial. Rogers secured the funds in the Labor, Health and Human Services and Education Appropriations bill for FY04 nearing final approval in Congress.

“The Tuskegee Airmen National Memorial is essential for honoring some of our country’s most noble African Americans,” Rogers said. “I am pleased to have helped secure these funds and hope they will help Tuskegee develop a challenging curriculum to support this worthy endeavor.”

The House is expected to approve the legislation, known as a Conference Report, in a larger appropriations bill in December or January. Upon approval, the Senate will debate the legislation and send it to the president for his signature.

“I also appreciate the assistance of Senators Shelby and Sessions with this project,” Rogers added.
