Washington, DC - Congressman Mike Rogers announced today that Tuskegee University will receive $50,000 to help develop the aviation science program and the corresponding curriculum for the planned Tuskegee Airmen National Memorial.
The project, which passed the House in December, was included as a line item in the FY 2004 Omnibus Appropriations bill that passed the Senate Thursday evening.
“As I said in December, the Tuskegee Airmen memorial is vital for honoring some of our country’s most noble African Americans and for helping strengthen the long-term growth of Macon County,” Rogers said. “I am pleased to have helped secure these funds and appreciate the assistance of Senators Shelby and Sessions with this project.”
Rogers said the bill will now head to the White House for the president’s signature.
