Washington, DC - Congressman Mike Rogers today congratulated Macon County elected officials for their work in securing a planning grant to update Tuskegee’s downtown master plan.
The $32,000 grant, matched by an $8,000 local contribution, will help fund the City of Tuskegee Master Plan for Downtown Redevelopment, a long-range blueprint for improving the historic downtown business district.
“I am pleased to see we are making real efforts to improve Tuskegee’s historic downtown,” Rogers said. “I congratulate local officials on their efforts in securing these funds, and look forward to helping make downtown Tuskegee an even more attractive place to locate a business or to visit.”
The grant, administered by the Appalachian Regional Commission in Washington, DC, will be distributed to the South Central Alabama Development Commission (SCADC) on behalf of current downtown planning activities. The funds will help map Tuskegee’s existing urban environment, and develop a strategic plan for its redevelopment based on several public input meetings.
