Rogers Announces $10,800 Grant
for East Alabama Fire Protection District
Will help recruit local firefighters

Washington, D.C.  -  Congressman Mike Rogers announced today the East Alabama Water, Sewer and Fire Protection District should receive $10,800 in Federal support to help recruit firefighters in Chambers County.

The grant, which is administered by the Department of Homeland Security’s “SAFER” program, supports the recruitment of full time and volunteer firefighters across the nation.

“Chambers County’s first responders are our first line of defense,” Rogers said. “I am pleased the men and women of the East Alabama Water, Sewer and Fire Protection District will be receiving this grant, and I hope it will support the efforts of local officials to recruit new firefighters.”

The Homeland Security Department says each “SAFER” hiring award requires a five year performance period that includes a local matching requirement that increases over time. “I am pleased the Federal government is continuing to make these types of investments in East Alabama,” Rogers said.

Rogers is Chairman of the Homeland Security subcommittee on Management, Integration, and Oversight.
