Representative Franks Comments on
DeLay’s Announcement

January 7, 2006—Congressman Trent Franks (AZ-02) made the following statement following the announcement that Tom DeLay has permanently resigned his position as Majority Leader of the U.S. House of Representatives:

"I consider Tom DeLay a true and principled leader.  Even amid these politically motivated attacks, he has put the Republican party and the conservative agenda ahead of partisan tactics.  It takes an honorable man to make such a decision.  Once again, he has sacrificed himself for the sake of his party and America.

My fear is that the liberal media may fail to highlight this honorable man's relentless and successful  work for conservative values and the American family.  His efforts have improved the lives for millions of American citizens.  I am grateful for all he has done to secure the Republican majority and feel confident that he will continue to play an integral role in leading us all."

Trent Franks is the Congressman from the 2nd Congressional District of Arizona.  He is a member of the House Armed Services Committee, the House Judiciary Committee and Vice Chairman of the Constitution Subcommittee.
