Congressman Franks Named “Hero of the Taxpayer” by Americans for Tax Reform

“consistently represented the interests of American taxpayers”

February 11, 2004Today, U.S. Representative Trent Franks was presented with the “Hero of the Taxpayer” award from Americans for Tax Reform, a taxpayer advocacy organization in Washington, D.C.  Winners of this award must vote in the interest of American taxpayers at least 85% of the time.  Congressman Franks received a 100% rating.

“I am truly honored to receive this award, and am grateful for the good work Americans for Tax Reform does on behalf of America’s taxpayers,” Franks said.  “Unfortunately, government has become a crushing burden on America’s business, and our nation’s tax system is fundamentally flawed.  With that in mind, I will continue to push for legislation that will help alleviate the tax burden on Americans, rather than further enlarging the Federal coffers.”

The “Hero of the Taxpayer” award is presented in recognition of a Representative’s consistent effort to help reduce taxes and to block the introduction of additional taxes.  Members of Congress were rated by their votes and actions during the past year on twenty key issues, such as the Death Tax, Overtime Modernization, School Choice, and Welfare Reform.
