September 14, 2004—Today U.S. Representative Trent Franks announced the award of $2,452,551.00 for the Hoover Dam Bypass Bridge by the Federal Highway Administration.
“I am honored to have had a part in making Mohave County and all of Arizona safer, through the ongoing construction of the Hoover Dam Bypass Bridge,” Franks said. “Moving this project forward is one of my top priorities. Today’s funding will bring the bridge’s completion one step closer, and ultimately make Arizona more secure.”
The Department of Interior has identified the Hoover Dam Bypass project as their number one national security priority.
According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, the project will increase the safety, security, and operation of the dam, generating plant, the Lake Mead and Colorado River water supply, as well as enhance the safety and viewing experience of the million plus visitors to the Hoover Dam each year. |
