November 30, 2005—Congressman Trent Franks (AZ-02) today commended President Bush for his speech outlining the path forward toward victory in Iraq. Earlier today, the White House unveiled the National Strategy for Victory in Iraq. This document spells out the broad strategy the President first set forth in 2003 and provides an update on strong progress already made as well as the remaining challenges to ensure victory.
“The President is a strong and noble leader who has repeated time and again that the only option in Iraq is victory,” said Franks. “Far too many liberal minded critics are blatantly ignoring the progress in Iraq only to partake in political rhetoric. These frivolous attempts will only succeed in hurting troop morale and will minimize their dignified efforts to build democracy in Iraq and elsewhere in the Middle East.”
“Iraq is making steady and significant progress. Our brave American soldiers are taking the lead in the war on terrorism, meeting political milestones, and building democratic institutions to last for generations to come.” Franks continued, “The Iraqi general elections on December 15th will be another bold step for Iraq and will prove to be a step closer to a fully constitutional government, and that is certainly a remarkable endeavor.”
