Franks Pleased to See Arizona Remains Great Home for America's Fighters

Releases Statement on Superior Court Ruling in Luke Air Force Base Case

February 10, 2009 – Congressman Trent Franks (AZ-02) today responded to the news that a Superior Court judge has ruled in the state's favor in a case that stemmed from residential growth surrounding Luke Air Force Base and its Auxiliary Field 1.

Franks asserted, “Luke Air Force Base is a national treasure of the highest order and I am pleased to see that the Court has decided to protect it. The mission of Luke is to train the world’s greatest F-16 fighter pilots and maintainers, while deploying mission ready warfighters. It is the largest fighter wing in the entire United States Air Force. We must continue to work together in Arizona, as a community, to spread the message that Luke Air Force Base is a permanent and vital asset in the United States arsenal.”

Congressman Franks is serving his fourth term in the U.S. House of Representatives, and is a member of the Committee on Armed Services, Strategic Forces Subcommittee, Oversight & Investigations Subcommittee, Military Readiness Subcommittee, Committee on the Judiciary, Constitution Subcommittee, and is Ranking Member on the Subcommittee on Commercial and Administrative Law.
