January 11, 2007—Ranking Member of the Judiciary Committee, Lamar Smith, today announced that Congressman Trent Franks (AZ-02) will serve as Ranking Member on the Judiciary Committee’s Constitution Subcommittee.
“The Framers created the Constitution to protect the rights of life, liberty, and property for all Americans, which is the foundational bedrock of our Republic. I am grateful to lead on a Subcommittee that is dedicated to the protection of the purpose and principles of that magnificent document,” remarked Congressman Franks.
“For two terms Trent Franks has been a dedicated and active Member on the Constitution Subcommittee,” said Ranking Member Lamar Smith. “I am confident Trent will be a strong leader and will help shape the debate on some of the most important issues facing this Congress.”
The Constitution Subcommittee has previously held hearings on a wide span of issues including property rights, voting rights, parental empowerment, and issues pertaining to unborn children.
