January 28, 2003—"Tonight President Bush personified the kind of compassion and courage that exemplifies a truly great leader.
The President proposed giving seniors the choice of a modern Medicare system that includes prescription drug coverage. This is good news for the seniors residing in the state of Arizona and all across America because it gives them the same choices in healthcare that Members of Congress, their staffs, and all federal employees have," Franks said.
Arizona seniors can also count on being helped by the President's plan to abolish the double taxation of dividends. This measure would provide security to those who count on their dividends to supplement their monthly income.
The President went on to cite the progress made in the war on terrorism-disrupting terrorist networks and removing key leaders-but emphasized the need now to eradicate all threats against our nation.
"I think the President did an excellent job in reminding us all that the burden of proof lies squarely with Iraq. Indeed as he said, the inspectors were never sent to conduct a scavenger hunt, but rather to document the disarmament of Saddam Hussein, which heretofore, he's refused to do."
"There's a time in the life of every problem when it is large enough to be seen, and still small enough to be solved," Congressman Franks said, "We've seen that the danger of terror is real and present. I stand with great conviction with this President, as he valiantly leads this country and the entire world in the struggle to secure peace and freedom for people everywhere." |
