Congressman Trent Franks Awarded for Consistently Voting for the American Taxpayer

February 26, 2007—Congressman Trent Franks (AZ-02) has earned the “Taxpayers’ Friend Award” from the National Taxpayers Union. This award is given when a member of Congress consistently votes to reduce and control the burden imposed on the American taxpayer. Congressman Franks is rated among the top five members of Congress for this year’s score.

Franks said, “I am committed to protecting the American people’s right to keep the profits of their labor.  Our economy flourishes when elected officials encourage government deregulation, the spirit of entrepreneurship, and consumer empowerment.”

John Berthoud, President of the National Taxpayers Union said, “If every Member of Congress had voted as responsibly as Congressman Trent Franks did in 2006, Americans would enjoy much lower taxes and less waste in government.  Overburdened taxpayers in the Second District of Arizona and across the nation owe Congressman Franks a debt of gratitude for his hard work on their behalf.”

Congressman Franks is serving his third term in the U.S. House of Representatives, is a member of the Committee on Armed Services, Committee on the Judiciary, and is Ranking Member on the Constitution Subcommittee
