| WASHINGTON –
Congressman Dennis Cardoza, D-Merced, today announced the appointment of six students to the U.S. Service Academies:
U.S. Military Academy – West Point
Ryan Brunn – Central Catholic High School, Modesto, CA
Ryan Moschitto – Atwater High School, Atwater, CA
Joshua Sandhaus – Buhach Colony High School, Atwater, CA
U.S. Naval Academy – Annapolis
Tim Berry – Dos Palos High School, Dos Palos, CA
Margaret Fielder – Grace Davis High School, Modesto, CA
Bradley Harden – Thomas Downey High School, Modesto, CA
“I would like to congratulate to all of these outstanding young men and women,” Cardoza said. “I know they are extremely deserving of their acceptances and will serve our country with honor and distinction. They are an impressive group.”
A local Academy Selection Committee interviewed each applicant earlier this year and made recommendations to Cardoza. The selection of nominees was based on a composite of academic factors, including junior class rank and SAT scores, along with leadership potential. The congressman’s nominations were then forwarded to the academies, which made final decisions.
Young men and women who are interested in seeking a nomination for the class of 2012 should contact Lisa Mantarro Moore with Cardoza’s office at (209) 527-1914. Applications are available at www.house.gov/cardoza. The deadline is November 2, 2007.
