WASHINGTON – Congressman Cardoza commended the appointment today of Merced County resident Lynn Skinner to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s California Farm Service Agency State Committee. As one of the State Committee members she will help oversee such activities as carrying out state agricultural conservation programs, resolving appeals from the agriculture community, and keeping producers informed about FSA programs. “Since my earliest memories I have been an advocate for the California farmer and California agriculture,” said Skinner. “This new appointment allows me the opportunity to support California farmers even further and hopefully bring new understanding of California agriculture – large or small, sustainable or commercial – to the national level. I look forward to working with the other members of the committee and its director, Val Dolcini, and thank Congressman Cardoza for having faith in my ability to further agriculture in our great state.” Lynn Skinner was raised on a working California family farm. Mrs. Skinner and her husband operate the historic Wolfsen Land and Cattle Company, carrying on a family agribusiness legacy that has spanned some 80 years. “Lynn Skinner has a long history of working in our agricultural community and I was happy to advocate for her appointment to this position,” said Congressman Cardoza. “I have every confidence that she will be a valuable asset to California’s agricultural interests as well as the USDA.” |
