(April 29, 2009) Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA-34) meets with Lisa Dante Papini (shown left), who is Vice President of the Dante Valve Company based in the City of Bellflower, to discuss defense-related issues. Ms. Papini is also the Western Regional Board Member of the Aircraft Carrier Industrial Base Coalition. She traveled to our nation’s capital to discuss the importance of aircraft carrier federal funding to protect and create area jobs. The Dante Valve Company was founded by her grandfather, the late Thomas C. Dante in 1960. The company is a global distributor of military, commercial and industrial style valves. A separate company, the Danco Valve Company, was founded in 1982, as a manufacturer of military style safety and relief valves. Together, both family-owned companies have been proud members of the Bellflower community for nearly 40 years. The family employs 30 workers in their Bellflower manufacturing facility. During Ms. Papini’s visit, she said, “In these difficult times, the federal recovery package is helping to sustain and create quality jobs. I am here to emphasize the importance of providing federal funding for the construction and maintenance of aircraft carriers. Doing so will help to keep area families, such as those employed by my local Bellflower-based business, working well into the future.”
