(Washington, DC) - On Monday, May 18th, 2009, at the Prime F. Osborn Convention Center in Jacksonville, Florida, Congresswoman Corrine Brown will host her 17th annual Jacksonville Job Fair.  This year's Job Fair, which will be held in conjunction with The City of Jacksonville and Women of Color Cultural Foundation, Inc., will bring over 55 companies to the event, and will remain on location from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.   At the event, the Congresswoman will also be bringing in various organizations to provide workshops and training on interview techniques, resume preparation, ways to improve one's job search skills through networking, and how to dress for success.  

Companies and agencies participating in the Job Fair include:   Bank of America, Blue Cross of Florida, Comcast, CSX Transportation, U.S. Homeland Security/TSA, The Social Security Administration, and The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), who will be opening up a temporary satellite office in Jacksonville, Florida, to manage receiverships and liquidate assets from failed financial institutions, and will be providing up to 500 nonpermanent staff and contractors.  Other featured companies include St. Vincent's Healthcare, Duval Health Department, The United States Navy, The Jacksonville Transportation Authority and many more.  "With one in ten Floridians out of work, and unemployment figures expected to increase throughout the rest of 2009, this is, unfortunately, an extraordinarily difficult time for job seekers both in the State of Florida, as well as around the nation.  That said, attendance at the Job Fair is even more important this year, since it will provide a great opportunity for those searching for work to network and speak directly with prospective employers in the state, federal and private sectors," said Congresswoman Brown.
