Ros-Lehtinen Sets Up Meeting In DC With Miami Beach

& Florida Department Of Transportation Officials Regarding The Express Lane Project on I-95

Washington, D.C. --- Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, senior member of the Florida Congressional Delegation, has set up a meeting tomorrow TUESDAY in Washington, DC with officials from the Florida Department of Transportation and the City of Miami Beach to discuss the expansion and installation of the Express Lanes on I-95.

Ros-Lehtinen is a strong fighter in Congress for South Florida issues and this Express Lane project on I-95 is very important for the residents and businesses of the area. City of Miami Beach officials have expressed to the South Florida Delegation their concerns that a serious flaw within the current plan for the installation of the express lanes is evident and must be addressed. Specifically the lack of access from the High Occupancy Toll (HOT) lanes from I-95 to I-195 (Julia Tuttle) that will negatively impact the significant number of drivers who use I-195 and I-95 on a daily basis.

The Mount Sinai Medical Center is also concerned, as the lack of an express lane exit from the beach could dramatically impact traffic to and from the hospital

WHO:                  Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, FDOT Assistant Secretary Kevin Tibault, FDOT District 6 Secretary Gus Pego, Miami Beach Mayor Matti Herrera Bower, and Miami Beach City Manager Jorge Gonzalez.

            WHEN:                Tomorrow, Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at 2:00 p.m.
