Monroe County, Florida --- Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, senior member of the Florida Congressional Delegation, was pleased to have attended the annual Key West Police Officer Dinner, where she served as the keynote speaker for the evening.

Ros-Lehtinen is a strong advocate in the Congress for the City of Key West and Monroe County and she was honored that such a great organization such as the Key West Police Department invited her to spend an evening with them.

The Congresswoman also took time to express her support for the Department’s Love Fund. The KWPD Love Fund was established to support the spouses and children of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty or who pass away of natural causes put on them by the strains of the profession. The fund will also be used to assist officers who face medical problems as well as damages to their home, which results in their ability to serve the community.

Said Ros-Lehtinen, “I was honored to speak before such a talented and dedicated group of professionals who risk their lives everyday so that we can live in safe communities. It was also a great moment to share my support for the Department’s LOVE Fund as this is so important for officers to know that if they face economic hardship because of their profession or because of the complexities that life sometimes throws our way, their families and loved ones will not face the difficulties alone. It is a great initiative!”
