Rep. Johnson Applauds Dan Reed from NCSA for Accepting White House Appointment |
|
| Washington DC… President Bush has
appointed 25 individuals from around the country to serve on his Presidential
Information Technology Advisory Committee (PITAC) and U.S. Rep. Tim Johnson
(IL-15) is proud to announce that Daniel A. Reed from the University of
Illinois National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) has been
chosen by the President to serve on this committee.
“Dan Reed is one of the University of Illinois’ finest assets,” said Johnson. “As Director of NCSA, he is a world leader in information technology and is continually taking his scientific research to new heights. He has been in the Champaign-Urbana community for several years where he has also been a civic leader. His wealth of experience in information technology, as well as his community-minded approach will serve President Bush’s PITAC very well. I am proud to have played a role in Dan’s selection by writing a recommendation letter to the President; I wish Dan the very best with this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.” The members of PITAC provide the president with expert, independent advice on maintaining America's preeminence in advanced information technologies, including such key elements of the national IT infrastructure as high-performance computing, large-scale networking, and high-assurance software and systems design. “Being part of PITAC is a chance to help our country realize even larger dreams,” Reed said. “The creation of new technologies drives new discoveries and helps us find solutions that have been thought beyond our grasp. The men and woman who are part of PITAC are part of that process by providing the president with their expertise and advice on emerging technologies and related issues." |
