Champaign, IL…A graduate of Lawrenceville High School and a Mt. Carmel resident for nearly 25 years, Larry Reynolds will assume the duties of manager in U.S. Rep. Tim Johnson’s Southern Illinois office in Mt. Carmel.  Mr. Reynolds will handle casework for Congressman Johnson and will be able to help individuals with problems they might be having with federal agencies like the Social Security Administration, Medicare and Department of Treasury issues.

“I am excited about working for Congressman Johnson and I’m eager to get started,” said Reynolds.  “My background in journalism and the ministry have prepared me well for new responsibilities of serving the public.  I believe the governmental process is very interesting and I look forward to learning more about it.”

Reynolds graduated from the Cincinnati Bible and Seminary College and spent 17 years as a minister in the Midwest.  He moved to Mt. Carmel in 1979 where he began a career in journalism as a general assignment reporter and religion editor for the Mt. Carmel Daily Republican Register.  Though he retired from the newspaper in May 2002, he has assisted the staff with part-time photography.  Mr. Reynolds and his wife Lynn, a 5^th grade teacher in the Mt. Carmel school district, have seven grown children and 9 grandchildren.  He continues active involvement with the Mt. Carmel Kiwanis Club.

“Larry has exceptional qualifications for this position,” said Johnson.  “He has been respected member of the Mt. Carmel community for years and he has a solid background in helping people.  He will not only serve Wabash County, but through our Mobile Office Program, Larry will be seen frequently in Lawrence, White, Saline, Edwards and Gallatin Counties.”

Mr. Reynolds will begin working for Congressman Johnson immediately.  He will be training in Johnson’s Champaign office this week before reopening the Mt.
