| Washington DC… One of the many
programs within Bloomington’s Children’s Foundation will benefit from federal
grant money. U.S. Rep. Tim Johnson (IL-15) has secured $223,559 for
the Family Visitation Center - a shelter for victims of domestic violence,
child abuse, sexual assault and stalking.
“The Children’s Foundation is a quality organization with numerous services that promote healthy families,” stated Johnson. “I am proud of my long-standing relationship with this organization, and I am honored to assist the Children’s Foundation with obtaining federal funds.” The Family Visitation Center has a well-devised plan to use the new grant money. It has expanded its hours and increased the staff. Additionally, the FVC will hire Spanish-speaking consultants to translate center documents, inform families of FVC services, and supervise visits and exchanges for Spanish-speaking families. “We are thrilled about receiving this grant!” said Teresa Kelly, The Children’s Foundation Program Manager for Intact Family Services. “This is very exciting to be a part of a community collaborative that works toward keeping children and families safe.” |
