Washington, DC -- Congressman Sarbanes received the Outstanding New Member Award at the fifth annual Friends of National Service Reception.
This award will be presented at Union Station’s East Hall to celebrate and honor Members of Congress, Governors and private citizens who have worked to protect and expand national service opportunities for all Americans.
“I am honored to have been nominated by Experience Corps and recognized by the Friends of National Service in this way,” said Congressman Sarbanes. “I share their commitment to service and I was pleased to play a role in the legislation reauthorizing our Nation’s service programs. As this measure moves forward and in the future, I hope to actively work with the service corps community to foster civic and community engagement.” Congressman John Sarbanes is a member of the Education and Labor Committee, which has legislative jurisdiction over our Nation’s service programs. The Friends of National Service represent the continuum of service from Learn & Serve America, Senior Corps and AmeriCorps.
