Washington – Congressman Dale E. Kildee (D-MI) announced today that the Fenton Township Fire Department has been awarded $26,306 in federal funding. The grant will be used to improve operations and safety.
This grant was awarded by the Department of Homeland Security’s FY 2006 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program with funds appropriated by Congress
“Firefighters selflessly put their lives in danger to keep us safe,” Congressman Kildee said. “With this funding, the Fenton Township Fire Department will have more tools and resources to better serve its community.”
Congressman Kildee was an original cosponsor of The Firefighter Investment and Response Enhancement (FIRE) Act, which authorized the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. This legislation was passed in 2000 and allowed FEMA to award $485 million to fire departments throughout the nation in order to support fire protection, EMS delivery, and vehicle purchase and prevention programs in 2006.
