Kildee Helps Secure Close to $50,000

for Frankenmuth Fire Department

Washington – Congressman Dale E. Kildee (D-MI) announced today that the Frankenmuth Fire Department in Frankenmuth, Michigan has been awarded $49,400 in federal funding. The grant will be used to improve operations and safety.

This grant was awarded by the Department of Homeland Security’s FY 2006 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program with funds appropriated by Congress

“Firefighters risk their lives to keep us safe. It is important that we help them in any way we can,” Congressman Kildee said. “With this funding, the Frankenmuth Fire Department will be able to better serve its community.”

Congressman Kildee was an original cosponsor of The Firefighter Investment and Response Enhancement (FIRE) Act, which authorized the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. This legislation was passed in 2000 and allowed FEMA to award $485 million to fire departments throughout the nation in order to support fire protection, EMS delivery, and vehicle purchase and prevention programs in 2006.
