Washington -Congressman Dale E. Kildee (D-MI) announced today that theFlint Mass Transportation Authority has been awarded $742,500 in federal funds that would be used for bus facilities in the area.
“A reliable public transportation system is a vital lifeline for any community, which makes this funding important,” Congressman Kildee said. “These funds will help local residents have better access to facilities and services throughout the Flint area.”
Specifically, the funds would help rehabilitate a downtown transfer center in Flint, acquire property for a Swartz Creek service facility and acquire property for a Clio service facility. The funds come from the Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users, a bill Congressman Kildee supported and that was passed in August of 2005.
The Department of Transportation awarded this grant with funds appropriated by Congress.
