| Congressman Dale E. Kildee (D-MI) announced today that the city of Flint has been awarded a $1.8 million loan to finance a housing rehabilitation project. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development awarded the city of Flint this loan to revitalize and rejuvenate the community.
“Mayor Stanley and I are pleased to announce the awarding of this vital funding,” said Kildee. “I believe that affordable, safe housing should be available to all people in our nation. Without it, one’s fundamental human dignity is compromised and neglected.”
The city of Flint will use the Section 108 funds to finance the rehabilitation and renovation of two existing rental complexes that will create 22 condominium units. The project involves the renovation of 12 existing residential units and rehabilitation of an unused structure into 10 additional residential units to be sold as condominiums. The two buildings are located in the city’s Enterprise Community at 116 West First Avenue and 408 Garland. All permanent financing will be taken out by FHA 203 (b) or FNMA mortgages. |
