WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Dale E. Kildee (D-MI), Co-Chair of the Congressional Automotive Caucus attended the Washington Auto Show where he test drove a Chevy Volt. The Congressman praised the innovation he saw at the show and said it demonstrated the promising future of the industry.
“Last year, there was a feeling of uncertainty surrounding the auto industry. Today, there is a feeling of confidence, accomplishment and energy about the future of our auto makers – and electric cars are leading the charge. Not long ago, electric vehicles like the Chevy Volt were considered the “cars of the future.” But I got behind the wheel of the new Volt today, and this year consumers across the country will be hitting the road in these state-of-the-art, fuel efficient cars.
As Co-Chair of the Congressional Auto Caucus I have been working closely with the Administration, our automakers and other stakeholders to ensure the long-term viability of the domestic auto industry. I am pleased that those efforts have been successful, and that our car makers are well-positioned to once again be the economic engine that drives the American economy.” |
