Kildee Named One of the

“Best Representatives for Children”

WASHINGTON, DC -- The Children’s Defense Fund Action Council today congratulated Congressman Dale E. Kildee (D-MI) for being one of the “Best Representatives for Children.”

“I am pleased to receive this honor,” Congressman Kildee said. “There is nothing more important to me than the well-being of our nation’s greatest resource – our children.”

According to the recently released CDFAC 2006 Congressional Scorecard, which grades every Member of Congress based on key votes affecting children, Congressman Kildee voted to protect the health and well being of Michigan’s children 100 percent of the time. The Congressman achieved this distinction by voting to support increased investment in education and health care programs for our children.

“I applaud Congressman Kildee for his commitment to improving the lives of children in Michigan,” said CDF President Marian Wright Edelman. “Congressman Kildee is a dedicated advocate for children and has truly earned the distinction of being one of the best Representatives for children.”

Established in 1973, the Children’s Defense Fund is a private, nonprofit organization that works to provide a strong, effective voice for all children of America.
