Kildee Receives
“Friend Of National Parks” Award

Washington, D.C.- Congressman Dale E. Kildee (D-MI) received the “Friend of the National Parks” award today from the National Parks Conservation Association for his remarkable dedication to the preservation and conversation of our national parks.  The National Parks Conservation Association has repeatedly honored Kildee since the award’s inception in the 105th Congress.

“Our public lands are the crown jewels of our nation,” said Congressman Kildee.  “We must continue to preserve America’s most pristine lands so that future generations can continue to enjoy our precious natural resources.”

The National Park Conservation Association, founded in 1919, is America’s only private, nonprofit advocacy organization dedicated solely to protecting, preserving, and enhancing the National Park System.  The “Friend of the National Parks” award was established to honor congressional support for legislation that upheld the standards and integrity of the National Park System.

“Our national parks rely on Congress for protection under federal law and for adequate funding,” said NPCA President Thomas Kiernan.  “This award honors those who stood up to defend the precious places that symbolize our history and our nation’s natural wonders.”

Congressman Kildee is dedicated to securing funds to conserve unique, environmentally fragile areas across the country.  While serving as senior member of the Resources Committee, Kildee has worked hard to preserve and protect the health of our natural environment so that future generations will be able enjoy our natural resources and environmental splendor.  As a member of the National Parks, Recreation and Public Lands Subcommittee, Congressman Kildee has also been an outspoken advocate for conservation and preservation initiatives that preserve and protect our national parks.  This marks the third consecutive Congress that Representative Kildee has received this award from the National Parks Conservation Association.
