Kildee Announces $1,755,537 Grant Award for

Hamilton Community Health Network

WASHINGTON – Congressman Dale E. Kildee (D-MI) announced today that the Hamilton Community Health Network has been awarded a $1,755,537 grant to provide primary health care services to the uninsured and underserved population in Genesee County.  The Health Resources and Service Administration’s Bureau of Primary Health Care, a division of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, awarded this grant to Hamilton Community Health Network in order to provide underserved patients with access to quality health care services.  Congressman Kildee wrote in support of Hamilton’s renewal of funding for this program.

“The services provided by the Hamilton Community Health Network are irreplaceable because they often provide the only access to health care for many residents in my district,” said Kildee. “This grant will play a large role in giving them tools to save lives and protect public health by providing comprehensive primary and preventive health care service.”

Hamilton Community Health Network, formerly Hamilton Family Health Center, is the only Federally Qualified Community Health Center in the Genesee County, providing much needed medical, dental and other health services to underserved populations in the area.  Services are provided without regard to race, beliefs, or ability to pay.

Community health centers serve all people regardless of their ability to pay and target their services in areas where people face barriers to accessing high quality, competent care, such as patients without health insurance or with inadequate coverage.  Through extensive partnerships with local providers, hospitals, and managed care organizations, health centers build local systems of care that increase residents’ access to health services.
